GLUGLU Festival Hungary

International Electronic Music Festival

The apropos of the festival

We have established GluGlu festival because we have realized the non-existence of such a festival in Hungary that is based solely on electronic music and its joined arts.
The number of „electronic music fan” youngsters has grown a lot in Hungary in the past few years, but they have not yet been able to satisfy their needs at festivals aiming them as a target group. Hungarian festivals have not yet succeeded in growing through their rock festival character until now, although we are talking about a different target group and different needs in our festival’s case.


The aim of the festival


Now, at the beginning of the 21st century, we believe that Hungary needs a festival with a line-up excluding artists who have been on top years ago, but we have to confirm with the trends storming in Western-Europe and all across the world, still keeping its features that apply to the local audience.

In our planned festival we would like to highlight the fact to the representatives of the party scene, that there is a need for a high-standard, modern festival in Hungary. The festival would create opportunity also for young people coming from the surrounding countries to find a highbrow way of enjoying themselves. This festival will alter form other festivals both in music and in visuals, because our purpose is to present a total audio-visual show between gigantic sets. With this festival we are willing to prove not only for the audience, musicians but also for event organizers and their supporting organizations that an exigent mass event – born in Hungary – can exist, furthermore it can help the local party scene to catch up with the western trends and can be extraordinary in the region.


The nature of the Festival


The event becomes a great visual show with its special front, set and visual solutions. We are going to employ sets and original, palatial video-, lighting- and show-techniques in huge amounts and formats. GluGlu will be build up structurally, so everyone can find a program according to their tastes that is why we baffle the happenings onto three stages.

The Aquarena

For the extraordinary festival we have chosen an extraordinary, exciting venue.
While choosing a venue in Budapest or in its surrounding we paid great attention to the easy accessibility (easy to reach by car, easily approachable by public transportation or even with charter buses), and at last but not least the venue’s size and distance from residential areas were the main criteria of the final decision. Among different options we finally chose the aqua park of Mogyoród, Aquarena (which is situated next to Hungaroring, 20 kms from Budapest). The venue gives some value added to the festival in case of nice weather but is also suitable in case of bad weather. The venue with its 15 hectares and 4000 m2 of water surface commands excellent endowments: own camping, dressing rooms for 5000 people, clean and high-standard water blocks, different restaurants, bars and a huge parking lot.

The Festival in numbers

Since the festival in its nature mainly differs from other festivals in Hungary, we are expecting about 10,000 – 15,000 people to visit our event during the two days. Our target audience – based on our past experiences concerning electronic music type of events – is above 18 years, interested in electronic music and digital culture. Due to the extremely strong line-up we are expecting about 30% of the guests to arrive from the surrounding countries.
We are also planning to release the audio and visual material of the festival on cd and DVD in 2004.

Naturally the festival will command its own website, probably own radio station, and due to Cinetrip TV its own television program.

festivals in ungarn san immer otpimal und soweit des line-up vom sziget 04 festesteht, is dort ziemlich uninteressant ( 'ouh: the rasmus, bloodhound gang, children of boddom) ...

Ja, hätt ich auch gerne, klingt nämlich wirklich sehr interessant.

Volt Festival will ich dieses Jahr auch auf keinen Fall versäumen, voriges Jahr doc scott war schon , und vor allem wars nicht so weit zum fahren (sopron).

naja

Billig is aber net grad. Also in Ungarn, hab ich mir gedacht, wird's schon a bissl billiger sein. Is aber anscheinend auch nicht mehr so. Jetzt wollen halt alle ein riesen Festival veranstalten, was alle ganz toll beindruckt, aber, dass es sich dann die Hälfte der Leut nicht leisten kann und nicht hingeht, find ich schon ein bisschen schade. Irgendwie erinnert mich das an die Event- Kultur die vom Haider in Kärnten betrieben wird, große, beindruckende Konzerte und Veranstaltungen, aber die heimische Struktur wird vernachlässigt und zerstört.

















Die Chemical Brothers würd ich trotzdem gern sehn, geht aber nicht no money, no time

first location if you still don't find: The Aquaréna, in Mogyoród (this village is about 10 km far from Budapest, if you know the Hungaroring where F1 is organised every year, there is the Aquarena as well) you can get there by "Vorortbahn" or there will be a bus in every hour from the Nyugati Bahnhof

About the prices:
i know 60 EUR is a big amount of money. but check it if you go only for a simple weekend to an aquapark, how much does it cost? or if you go to one of those artist's concert you pay more than a half of that money. we try as many things to give for that price as many we can.
