Infos Zum Krankenhaus:

Das zapatistische Krankenhaus in San JosŽ del R’o
San JosŽ del R’o liegt im Grenzgebiet des
mexikanischen Bundesstaates Chiapas zu Guatemala im
Urwald der
Selva Lacandona. Das Dorf besteht aus etwa 40 Familien
und zŠhlt zu den zapatistischen
UnterstŸtzungsgemeinden.
Seit 1994 fordert die indigene Bevšlkerung in Chiapas
die Anerkennung ihrer Rechte und Kultur und befindet
sich im
Widerstand gegen die mexikanische Regierung. Unter dem
Slogan ãDas Land gehšrt jenen, die es bestellenÒ
wurden die
Gro§grundbesitzer, welche zuvor mit despotischer
WillkŸr geherrscht hatten, enteignet. In den
vergangenen Jahren
setzten die aufstŠndischen Ind’genas ihre
Vorstellungen von Autonomie um, formten mit den ãRŠten
der Guten
RegierungÒ ein System der Selbstregierung nach
indigenen Traditionen und schufen ein autonomes
Bildungs- und
Gesundheitssystem. WŠhrend der Besuch eines Arztes fŸr
die indigene Bevšlkerung und schon die Reisekosten zum

nŠchsten Spital der Regierung unerschwinglich waren,
verfŸgen sŠmtliche zapatistischen Dšrfer heute Ÿber
sogenann-
te ãMikroklinikenÒ, wo Šrztliche Konsultation und die
Behandlung der hŠufigsten Krankheiten auf
unentgeltlicher Basis
erfolgt. In jedem Dorf werden dafŸr ãpromotores de
saludÒ bestimmt, Verantwortliche fŸr den
Gesundheitsbereich, die
ihre Fertigkeiten in regelmŠ§igen Kursen erwerben und
vertiefen.
Das autonome Spital von San JosŽ del R’o gehšrt zum
zapatistischen Verwaltungsgebiet von La Realidad in
der
Zone Selva Fronteriza. 1997 mit Spendengeldern aus
Europa errichtet kann das junge Team indigener €rzte
stolz auf
ein modernes Labor, mehrere Krankenzimmer und eine gut
ausgerŸstete Apotheke verweisen. NatŸrlich verfŸgen
sie
Ÿber keine abgeschlossene Schulbildung, nehmen aber
umso engagierter und gewissenhaft an
Fortbildungskursen teil
und geben ihr Wissen unmittelbar an die ãpromotores de
saludÒ weiter.
Leider hat sich die Dachkonstruktion des Spitals als
unzulŠnglich erwiesen: Die imprŠgnierende Farbschicht
am
Dach des GebŠudes wurde durch die extreme Witterung
(gro§e Hitze im Sommer und stŸrmischer Regen im
Winter)
bereits schwer in Mitleidenschaft gezogen, und die
Betondecke weist in einigen Zimmern Schimmelbefall
auf. Da die
medizinische Behandlung unentgeltlich erfolgt und auch
die Medikamente zum Selbstkostenpreis abgegeben
werden,
reichten die finanziellen Mittel gerade aus, um die
beiden wichtigsten RŠume, OP und Labor, mit einem
Blechdach zu
schŸtzen, deswegen dieses Projekt, mit dem in einem
ersten Schritt auch die Krankenzimmer mit einem neuen,
regen-
festen Dach versehen werden sollen.
Die Kosten fŸr ein Blechdach mit den benštigten 300
m2Grš§e betragen etwa 5.000,Ð Euro
und sollen nun Ÿber solidarische Projekte in
…sterreich aufgetrieben werden.

They are known for their adoption of sophisticated direct action tactics and for making suits of armor out of street garbage and recycled materials. Ya Basta Association is sometimes associated with the 'White Overalls' who appear in many protests heavily padded.
Another movement with a similar name is Spanish ¡Basta Ya!, an organization opposing the violent Basque separatist organization ETA, which carries out attacks in the Basque Country to demand its independence from Spain and France.
There is also a French anarcho-syndicalist ska band, which is named after this phrase; see Ya Basta (band).
Rap group Dead Prez endorsed the use of the phrase and the accompanying hand sign in the film Dave Chappelle's Block Party.
