ESP AGENCY NEWS: new ARTIST "LYNX (Soul:r)" and more updates

new esp artist: LYNX (Soul:r, Creative Source, 31 Records, Digital Soundboy, Bingo / London)

If you have followed the development of our roster you may have noticed that not very often do we open it up to up-and-coming artists, the last time was in 2004!

However, every once in a while we come across an artist that blows everyone away with a fresh and unique approach to his music. Someone who doesn’t try to copy other producers but rather creates his own vibe and by doing so immediately gains the respect of many of the heavyhitters in the scene. Someone who gets signed up to become the third official Soul:r artist besides Marcus Intalex and Calibre and as such will release an album alongside Kemo MC on this legendary label in the not too distant future. Someone whose tracks, such as the massive Disco Dodo, appeal to artists across the dnb community and are being rinsed by the likes of Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Doc Scott, Fabio, Grooverider, Andy C, Hype, Shy FX, Marky, Zinc and many more. This artist is 29 year old Steve Nobes aka Lynx.

Steve has been working tirelessly on his sound, racking up 6 years of commercial studio experience and a masters degree in Audio Technology. Combine this with his passionate knowledge for funk, rock, soul, jazz and world music and you may start to understand why Lynx’s music sounds so far above that of the typical drum and bass producer. It is no surprise then that he has already signed his tunes to massive labels like Soul:r, Creative Source, 31 Records, Digital Soundboy, Bingo, and with more of them knocking on his door the future is bright for him.

Lynx has also been a dj for the best part of 10 years and is ready to show that his skills on the decks are not lacking behind those in the studio. He has already got shows lined up across the UK and Europe, and is new resident at Soul:ution at London’s superclub Fabric. There is however still availability for the remainder of 2007 and beyond. Lynx’s sets are musical and feature a heavy selection of his own material alongside tracks from artists such as Marcus Intalex, Calibre, Commix, Alix Perez and more.

Lynx is available immediately and exclusively worldwide through ESP for solo bookings, Soul:ution Nights and 31 Records Nights.

For full biog and audio go to

KEMO MC (Soul:r / Cologne)

Wherever possible, Lynx should be booked alongside Kemo MC. Kemo has lent his voice to some of Lynx’ biggest tracks to date, such as Carnivale and Global Enemies and will also be collaborating with Lynx on their album due out on Soul:r in 2008.

Kemo will throw down his live lyrics over Lynx’ dj set to complement the tunes they have produced together, and otherwise hosts the set subtly as an MC. Live, Kemo fully adapts to the music, the atmosphere and the crowd. The music always plays the main role. He sees his job as adding a cherry on top. He flows over just about anything and has gained global live performing experience with a wide variety of DJs and musicians in various genres of music.

You can contact Kemo for bookings by email ( kemo@evocators.com ) and through myspace ( )

Quotes:

‘I haven’t been this excited about an artist since Calibre came onto the scene’
- Marcus Intalex -

'THIS PRODUCER IS GONNA BE BIG'
- Fabio BBC Radio 1 -

Lynx and Kemo doing something different from the norm, and succeeding! - Definitely a force to be reckoned with!
- Nu:Tone (Hospital) -

Global Enemies.... Best Hip Hop / DnB crossover since Goldie and Krs1.
- Commix -

A really important new artist in my eyes is Lynx, he has some tunes coming out on Soul:r (Marcus's label) and my label 31 records. The kid is so bright and innovative, he expresses such musical freedom in his forms and sound scape's and hasn't been scared into conforming to those cookie cutter tune templates that so many artists fall into in this day and age.
- Doc Scott -

Global Enemies has brought completely new combinations of approaches to vocal fused drum and bass, if this is Indicative of future work, Lynx & Kemo are gonna be massive.
- Atlantic Connection -

Carnivale - Haunting, spooky yet oozing with soul, once again Lynx and Kemo deliver a slice of future soul. Eerie strings, infectious vocals all driven by a combination of gliding basslines, stabs and erratic beats. Soldiers.
- Alix Perez -

Global Enemies - perfect intro tune. Future sounds next level business
- Artificial Intelligence -

For the 1st time in a while a duo that are carving a new sound within D&B , thank God for Lynx & Kemo.
- DJ Lee -

Global Enemies - Mysterious and hypnotic, hiphop dnb with some deep funk! Tidy... quality piece of music.
- EZ Rollers -

Highly original tracks here from some of the rising stars of drum and bass, great groove on the drums and interesting vocals really make these tunes stand out. from what ive heard from these guys - there is plenty more great music to come.
- Chase & Status -

There is light at the end of the tunnel! Global Enemies is surly one of best best examples this year for D&B that does simply not follow the one way road! Lynx and Kemo - lets push things forward...
- Philipp Maiburg (Phoneheads & Combination Records) -

’One of the most promising new production outfits to break through. '
- The Insiders -

‘The debut 12" from Soul:R's new signing, Lynx, gives hope to all those becoming disillusioned with the current state of musical affairs in D&B.’
- ATM Mag (tune of the month / May issue) -

‘(…) many people had to make a trip to see Lynx DJ and he definitely did not disappoint. (…) the crowd responded to Lynx's set very well - you could see that they appreciated a set with some varied tunes in it and for me was the set of the night.’
- dogsonacid.com event review -
