Hard, relentless, creative, monstrous, and still friendly: The Teknoist’s first full length album is a storm of shattered pounding beats, anthemic riffs, and aggressive breaks. And still, it is also a humane and deep work that knows when to take the time to seduce its listener. Between the most insane moshpit and inventive melodies, here comes hurricane of yet uncharted magnitude.
We warned you that he would be back. Half a year after having invited The Teknoist to share a record with Eustachian on the successful “Pillaged & Plundered” 12”, Ad Noiseam presents the mad man’s first full length album, coming after several years worth of records for such labels as Deathchant, Planet Mu, Death$sucker, Peace Off or Cock Rock Disco.. And mind you, he hasn’t used this time to slow down one bit.
A hurricane is a good metaphor for this album, in which Mike Hayward (a.k.a. The Teknoist) unleashes an hour long of his relentless broken rhythms, his pounding beats and his insidious melodies. A storm indeed, of destroyed drums and friendly melodies, of anthemic riffs and humane hooks, “… Like A Hurricane Made Of Zombies” is at the same time one of the most violent albums released on Ad Noiseam so far, and, deeper down, a more accessible, harmonious and soulful creation.
Make no mistake, this album is absolutely guaranteed plenty of moshing and raving. However, any careful listener will appreciate how The Teknoist isn’t only about an all-out madness of beats and breaks, but also about much “friendlier” passages and harmonies (something in which he can be linked to label-mate Enduser).
At the confluent of breakcore, hardcore and something a lot more melodic, “…Like A Hurricane Made Of Zombies” might very well be “the” hard hitting, dance floor-packing album of the moment. Watch out, The Teknoist is out and looking for brains.

The CD version of this album contains the tracks “No Suck Luck” and “Have You Seen”, originally released on “Pillaged & Plundered” (Ad Noiseam adn94) and “Richie’s Breakcore Love Song”, originally released on “Drunk Drunken Drunkard” (Death$ucker Records D$R28). These tracks do not appear on the vinyl version.

“The Teknoist has created the friendliest monster, or perhaps a monstrous friend, with this, his first album, his hurricane of sonic zombies. Endless creative twists and turns weave together (or is it weld and smash?) chunks of metal, jungle, hip-hop and even oddly touching ambient/string-y moments.
It’s an album that reminds you that the line between laughing and crying, hating and loving is sometimes so thin as to be indistinguishable. And for all its raucous and riotous fun that’s sure to mash-up any country that gives a damn about interesting electronic music (the world - America) and/or hardcore (the world + America), for all its riffs that should leave punks happily sprawled in the mud, it’s the moments of genuine feeling that make the whole thing work as an album. That make it worth listening to 70+ minutes of pure, mental, loveable, horrible and fantastic TEKNOISSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!”

”When asked to write a review one of the best albums I have heard in years, by arguably one of the most talented producers out there, I wondered how I would keep it impartial. Here goes… this album starts off about as ambient as hardcore can get and builds up to cover all respectable variations of core.
The use of atmospherics and melodies seems to soften the blow of the unadulterated kick drum frenzy that ensues in the bottom end. This only adds more depth and emotion to the tracks, each one which genuinely feels to take you on a journey into the twisted brain wrong of a one-off man mental.
There is not a single track that can be described as filler, each track is teaming if ingeniously engineered aggression. With this album The Teknoist sets the benchmark for producers who want to remain “dancefloor” friendly, but by experimentation can encompass a roller coaster of emotions, sounds, genres and ideas into one unique experience. The only downside to this album is not enough people will hear it.“
