Das Licht geht aus, düster soll es werden. Und das weniger, weil Stromkosten gespart werden sollen, sondern soundmäßig. Zu Herbstbeginn begrüßen wir bei Future Beatz im Flex das holländische Trio BLACK SUN EMPIRE, drei Kameraden aus Utrecht deren einzigartiger Sound in den letzten Jahren weitläufig auf Begeisterung trifft. Gerade Black Sun Empire spielen oft mit
Sci-Fi und Zukunftsthemen. Alleine schon der Crewname, der aus der Star-Wars-Saga stammt, deutet ein Faible für diese Art von Ästhetik an. Black Sun Empire haben ihren Platz im Drum’n’Bass erobert und zählen nicht zu einer „gefährdeten Spezies“, ganz im Gegenteil: Sie sind eine Instanz, die die Evolution von Drum’n’Bass noch weiter vorantreiben wird.

Im Jahr 2000 sind die drei Niederländer zum ersten Mal im internationalen Drum’n’Bass Biz in Erscheinung getreten, nur 2 Jahre danach gründeten sie ihr erstes eigenes Label: Black Sun Empire Recordings, womit sie eine musikalische Plattform geschaffen haben, die bis heute den Nerv der Zeit trifft. Das erste Album des Trios erschien im Jahr 2004 und die Holländer lieferten damit ein unumstrittenes musikalisches Manifest ab, womit sie den Sprung in die Oberliga der Drum’n’Bass Produzenten schafften. Nur zwei Jahre später erschien das Album ‚Cruel and Unusual‘ womit sie den Erfolgskurs BLACK SUN EMPIRE fortsetzten und auch das zweite Label ‚oBSEssions‘ bietet seit dem ersten Release im Jahr 2005 Qualität pur für unsere Ohren.
