Continuing their reign over deep and technical drum and bass sets everywhere, the inimitable Spinline are back with a pair of incredible remixes from two of the scene’s most wanted individuals. From the drum and bass’ extremes of tar-black bass and granite-heavy rhythms, both Clarity and Stray have brought the goods for this release. But what did you expect?
Clarity never minces his words when it comes to working that minimal vibe and as you’d expect Life morphs from Spinline’s original into something far nastier. Dark, deep and with enough space to let that uneasy feeling roll in alongside the barely-there weave of didgeridoo bass, this is the stuff of crowded clubs and evil intentions. Clarity proves once again that he cannot be stopped.
For Sundays Stray has created a different type of unease, instead opting for cut-and spliced juke flavours scattered sharp and ragged over a barely recognisable 170bpm beat. Building the tension then refreshing the track with hints at the original melody, Stray’s reworking is not for the faint-hearted. For fans of skittish hi-hats and drum and bass of the heaviest, deepest kind, you’ve come to the right place.
