ROMAN P.
Roman P. aka SMC P.R. started his way in music business more than 15 years
ago. It was Heavy Metal Era, Cold War and Berlin's Wall just was broken down
and Perestroyka had just begun. There still was KGB order, most music was
illegal, there were no clubs and all concerts were on underground basis, so
people met on train station and going out of city in forests to exchange
music, magazines and more. Out of these meetings the first big music market
arose called 'Gorbushka' where Roman P. began to sell music imported from
London. When he became co-owner of the first records store in Moscow selling
vinyl for DJs, DISCOCSID, he also started organising his first parties in
1998 called TWISTED PARTY and organised the Russian platform at the LOVE
PARADE in Berlin. Since three years now Roman P. has been organising regular
events as STEPPIN'SESSION, presenting all kinds of break-beats. While he has
brought several international artists to Moscow like LTJ BUKEM & MC CONRAD,
NOOKIE & MC FIVE ALIVE, FUTURE ENGINEERS, BLAME & MC DRS, FREESTYLERS, DEPTH
CHARGE, MARK "RUFF" RIDER and his STRICTLY UNDERGROUND Crew, GUSH COLLECTIVE
and others, he is still engaged in promoting Russian artists like
ELECTROSOUL SYSTEM and DJ PROFIT* and is definitely one of the most
experienced promoters in Moscow.
ELECTROSOUL SYSTEM
Electrosoul System is the production name of new Russian sensation Andrey
Burtaev and his friend Dmitriy. They started writing music 6 years ago and
after their first release on TAM records [St Petersburg, Russia], in 2002, 2
tracks were released on LTJ Bukem´s label GOOD LOOKING and one on COOKIN'.
It was around this time that the duo was influenced by Blame, Future
Engineers and Seba, and started making more futuristic and deep sounds as
they felt it more appropriate for the dancefloors. At the moment they have
more than 6 signed contracts on labels like Good Looking, Covert Operations
and Camino Blue. 2003 was marked by their complete break, as their track 'A
Tear In My Eye' was released on GLO's high acclaimed series PROGRESSION
SESSION 9. Now, they are working on more darker and futuristic tracks.
DJ PROFIT*
Kirill PROFIT* started his musical career as a dj in 1996, playing in Moscow
clubs like the Chaos, Chameleon, Titanik, DK MAI, MDM and others. Thanks to
his extra-ordinary dj skills, in 2000, he became resident dj of several
parties and could perform with such stars as Kemal & Rob Data, John B,
Trace, J Majik, Jojo Rock and DJ Spice. He prefers to play so-called
technoid drumn'bass, in particular Dsci4, Nerve, C4C, redlight, BSE, Cryptic
Audio, Negative. At present he is resident dj at STEPPIN'SESSION for the
third season and began to produce his own tracks.
