dkay, epsilon und rawfull waren mit jho von knowledge und verse unterwegs...

dem jho hats auf jeden fall voll getaugt - so wies halt eigentlich jedem taugt der hierherkommt...

also dickes austria special würd ich dieses enhanced kollümmchen ja nicht nennen (ausser man zählt den illskillz-artikel mit), aber is ganz nett geschrieben....
rasselbande radio kommt zwar nicht drin vor, dogs bollocks schon, aber dafür wird radio orange erwähnt
jo und von den größeren crews ham´s glaub ich auch niemanden vergessen, was zumindest wien angeht. linz hams a bisserl wegglassen, wasma zumindest für die blauweiss-fraktion dort leid tut und record-labels sowie stores hams auch die wichtigsten aufgezählt... jo, wer weiss, vielleicht hab ich ja morgen zeit, das alles abzutippen. viel is ja eh nicht. we´ll see. hab mir jedenfalls unter dickes special ein bisserl was anderes vorgestellt...

who are the biggest djs?
although d.kay is well known outside austria, he is first and foremost a producer rather than a a dj. the austrian dj that gets most global bookings is dj rawfull, he´s austrian equivalent of andy c. he just got back from a four-week tour of the states with a big smile of his face. there are a handful of really talented dnb djs in austria with a healthy following like aziz and matt from trife.life!, audio device from synergetic disaszt from mainframe and not forgetting austria´s first lady: shroombab from junglistig sistaz.

who are the biggest producers?
d,kay is the biggest d&b producer to come out of austria since his summer anthem 'barcelona' hit the uk charts. 'barcelonas' success opened up a number of doors for him. over the last 12 months he has released tracks on some of dnb´s most promiment labels. he´s beeen giben his own radio show on austria´s fm dial and he´s got a decent distribution deal with st holdings for his very own imprint illskillz recordings. d.kays partner in crime rawfull makes up the illskillz production outfit. epsilon collabroted with d.kay an 'barcelona' and will follow up with 'honey'. other producers worth mentioning are shroombab who has had a release on urban takeover with 'bad motions' and 'double trouble'. recent fronting stars body and soul won the ez rollers 'road runner' remix competition, held on drum and bass arena erlier this year.

who are the biggest mcs?
the one austrian mc tha has to be mentioned is mc shnek. taking full advantage of the fact that he spent his formative yeras in the uk, he can both battle or compliment the world´s best mcs in english, then hype the crown in german if he think they need it. shnek has yet to make it big outside of the continent, but as austria´s best djs become more globally recognised he should too.

is there an austrian sound?
whoever you ask about austria´s signature sound you get differentanswer, which is healthy. but experience suggest austria likes it hard with teh odd euphoric vocal. that said that their love liquid is becoming more and more prominent too.

where´s the party at?
vienna is without a doubt the core of the austria dnb scene - nowhere else manages to come close. the other town that hosts regular dnb nights in austria is salzburg, relying on a student crowd. bienna s austria´s only large city and its location is perfect for attracting clubbers from all across the crounty - even neighbouring states are just a short drive away.

what are the key clubs and events?
there are four main venues for dnb in austria, all in or around vienna: flex, arena, wuk and roxy. they are all dbn institutions in their own right. flex is austria´s equivalent to the end and it looks a lot like it too butwith a stage. flex hosts three renowned dnb events, two of wich 'ttsol' and 'future beatz' are on monthly rotation. the other 'wicked' is monthly and includes dancehall too. other noteable events include 'mainframe' at arena, 'synergetic' at wuk and 'all souled out' at roxa. 'all souled out' is vienna+s equivalent to london´s 'swerve'; as the title suggests it´s for the liquid side of the dnb spectrum, something wich has become ingreasingly popular in austria of late. this is no small part thanks to 'all souled out' and its promoters matt and aziz

what austrian labels should i look for?
trick disc was austrianfirst dnb label and was the first to release something from the illskillz crew a.k.a d.kay and rawfull. the definitely deserve some mad respect for that. other than that, high tension records is run by shroombab. high hat records have a great website at finally the recently formed 'illskillz recordings' is the only austrian imprint that doesn#t seem to solely focus on local talent, is quickly becoming a globally recognised and respected imprint.

what´s the crowd like?
the average age appears to be between the ages of 18 and 24 but there are definitely people both older and younger than that regularly in attendance.

how much of an influence is the uk scene to austria?
there is a big influence; all the events listed above regularly bring over big name djs and mcs from the uk. in the month knowlegde was there the list included grooverider, trace, marcus intalex, nu:tone, influx uk and mcs skibadee and verve. bit it has to be said that they´re not essential in pulling a healthy looking austrian crowd.

what´s the best record shop in austria?
this is definitely an issue of contention in vienna: dynamic records and bounce records. dynamic was there first and hace continually bought all kinds of vinyl all the corners of the globe for several years. whereas bounce is newer on the block with more welcoming atmosphere; its strictly sells dnb an dhip-hop and get´s the purist´s vote. after speaking o both shopowners it´s conclusive that the competition is healthy as dynamics seem to sell the more of the harder stuff and bounce seem thoi sell more of the liquid stuff. it´s all good...

how does the austrian mainstream view subcultures like dnb?
not very well... thankfully there are a couple of alternative stations in support, most notably fm4, who after success of 'barcelona' gace d.kay his own show. the strangely titled show: 'the dogs bollocks' is to austria what fabio & grooverider are to the uk. radio orange is the other alternative station on the fm dial insuppert but other than that the scene heavily relies on internet radio stations from around the world.

what are the best austrian dnb websides?
is ti austria what dogsonacid.com is for the world. it´s a forum based site that keeps people up to date with what´s going on when in the world of austrian dnb whilst allowing people to chat online with like minded people. other tah shroombab´s definitely deserves a mention. anything that could mean more girls at dnb events! inall seriousness it´s a much needed global portal for dnb sisters, if you´re a girl that´s into the scene be sure to check it.
