De-Bug Review zur Warp Visions DVD.

Bei kaum einen Label für elektronische Musik war das Corporate Design über lange Zeit so stringend durchgeplant wie bei Warp. The Designer's Republic prägte dem Label und den Releases ein Trademark-Design auf, das lange Zeit als seines Gleichen suchte. Die visuelle Seite in Sachen Video bei Warp war lange Insider-Wissen. Erst mit den Videos von Chris Cunningham für Aphex Twin geriet diese Komponente der Label-Geschichte ins Blickfeld einer größeren Öffentlichkeit. Doch schon von Anfang an gab es bei Warp Videos. Die erscheinen jetzt erstmalig kompiliert auf DVD. Neben den üblichen Verdächtigen (Cunningham mit seinen Director Cuts für AFX, den hoch technischen Videos für Autechre usw), bietet die DVD viele Videos, die so kaum jemand kennen dürfte. Klassiker (wie Jarvis Cockers Video für AFX' "On"), Frühwerke für LFO, Sweet Exorcist, Seefeel oder Sabres Of Paradise, die in ihren LoFi-Arrangements ein extrem charmantes Bild der Frühphase Warps vermitteln, relativ gesichtslosen Promo-Videos wie zum Beispiel für Anti Pop Consortium oder Beans, gibt es hier Dinge zu entdecken, die einfach Spaß machen. Das Video für Luke Viberts "I Love Acid" zum Beispiel kann man immer wieder und wieder schauen. Das wundervolle Lasergun-Video für Plaid hat man eigentlich auch noch nirgends gesehen und Frederic D's Arbeiten für Jamie Lidell passen so perfekt auf dessen Musik, dass es eine reine Freude ist. Dieser Release war überfällig. So wie sich Warp in den letzten Jahren musikalisch immer mehr in die Breite entwickelt hat, bildet die DVD adequate Bilderwelt des Labels perfekt ab. Eine DVD zum Stöbern, sich erinnern und entdecken.

also, autechre (gantz graf) waren wohl am offensichtlichsten die überladen genialsten, .. wie mein Freund schon sagte "are they like the world record holders of puting as much shit as possible into a milli-second", .. überhaput danach zum kontrastreichen "nannou" .. alles von chirs cunningham ist natürlich auch unübersehbar gewesen, ... unterhaltend waren natürlich auch die ganzen old school warp sachen mit S und M tendenzen und MC Hammer Tänzern, ... nächstes Mal nehme ich meine Großmutter mit und kaufe ihr ein Afri Cola ... ?
