Ok that seems alright, can i ask, how much did a setup like that cost or where would i best go, to find a deal on this, i am looking to find something cheap just for the starting home dj, nothing special learning to beatmatch and playing d'n'b/breaks at home

Wow! Thanks you guys, you have been very helpful!
Wenscho - you setup is IDEAL! but financially not for me, atleast not at the beginner stage!
chrissam - i like your setup, even though i hate numark, bad experice with a mixer and there cd players suck! however, let me ask you, have you had any trubles with the turntables, any at all!?
And yes, Friendlyhouse seems to be the best, i think there should be 5%-10% (Idealy!) discounts for drumandbass.at members, doing all this promotion for them, i know i'm getting my gear from them that's for sure!

if you're also heading for clubgigs you should rather get some allen & heath mixer.... from my point of view a very strange handling, far not as self-explaining as an ecler or ******* would be, but unfortunately it is becoming club standard those days, so you better get some routine @ home...
(i bought myself an ecler hak360 battlemixer which is fun to mix at home - and also would be in a club - and everytime i find a djm600 or allen&heath i get mad about the handling )
technics tts are still the best choice
headphones: sennheiser hd25 is my fav, but if your budget is limited get some cheaper ones....you dont have to get used to them, they are just perfect, so get them when you have your first club gig

got that setup for over three years now... ya know... like if you buy some skanky product now... for "beginning"... and switching to a technics in half a year... thats even more expensive...
@ Allen & Heath... It's true, that they become standard... but sad as well... In England the XONE:92 is standard for sure... And this mixer is lovely... but the other allen & heath mixers... ar a bit strange in handling, very very true...

I wouldn't recomend Technics turntables.
I've got Stanton T-120 (400,- each) at home and they're much better in every regard. as far as I know the SYNQs (~ 330 each) are 100% the same as the Stanton T-120c (there are some differences though, the chassis and the alignment of the buttons for example).
why I recommend them? because they've got the world's strongest super high torque motor (4,5kg/cm^2 in contrast to 1,5) and they've got many more features, even more than the Technics MK5GE which costs you 650 Euros.
the only disadvantage is that they won't fit in flightcases made for Technics TTs but that's the only thing I found out and believe me, I compared them very critically
but just look for your self and compare them.
for the mixer I think a cheap one will do it for the start, don't bother with this if money is an issue (and I guess so ...
I hope this one helps you out...cheers

I think the Numark TT-500 would be a nice chice, they don't seem to be missing anything but the design of the Technics 1200 and are cheaper, also i think it would be wise to get a more expensive mixer, i've been doing some dj work at this local club, well it's more like tune in one and tune out the other, but i found out that if the mixer does not have EQ's per channel, fuck it's super hard as hell to mix, cause the mixer this club has got, has trebel and bass for the channel and a full eq that's for the whole mixer, so the real bass and trebel cutting happens at the eq and not with the ones on my channels and so mixes no matter how well you catch the beat, something out to go wrong.....fuck yes money is an issue, but it's something i've wanted for a long time and i really want to get myself some decks and just have some fun.... a friend of mine says i'm stupid to get decks, i'd better be off getting CD Players, like ******* 200's, any views on this guys, i mean it is more convenient with cd's and all but there' something about the feel and look of vinyl that you just can't not have....

yippieh, yet another turntable thread... it took a long time ;-)
quote:
1.) die guten einstiegs-modelle
sync audio xtrm1
(sehr empfohlen, was preisleistungsverhältnis angeht)
--> s-shaped tonarm
--> pitch 10, 20 50
--> drehmoment 4,5 (zum vergleich technics: 1,5)
--> specials: reverse play, 2x start und stop-taste, bei dem jeweils auch die zeit regelbar ist.
als billigster preis in d: 395.-
derselbe motor ist auch in folgenden plattenspielern drin / bzw. sind diese tts auch baugleich mit dem sync extrem:
american audio hdt 4,5, ohne preisangabe
citronic pd-45, ohne preisangabe
omnitronic dd 5250, 319.-
reloop rp-6000, 368.-
stanton st-150 (fast baugleich, pitched 8, 16, 25, 50), 549.-
stanton str8-150 (pitched 8, 25 und 50, unterscheidet sich vom st-150 durch den geraden tonarm) 578.-
da lohnt sich also ein preisvergleich, motor ist jeweils der gleiche, optisch schauen sie halt anders aus.
someone translate this please
fact is: all of these turntables have the same motor. and this motor is def. ok for use at home. as ypu see, they all have different prices.
quote: I wouldn't recomend Technics turntables.
it is strictly forbidden to say that
but i agree
und ich erspar euch das jetzt und sag NICHT, welche decks ich bevorzuge

i know
was hoping you can understand the meaning
i was saying that this turntable
sync audio xtrm1
has the same motor than
american audio hdt 4,5, no prices available
citronic pd-45, no prices available
omnitronic dd 5250, 319.-
reloop rp-6000, 368.-
stanton st-150 pitches 8, 16, 25, 50), 549.-
stanton str8-150 578.-
just the prices vary
you should have a look at them.
i agree, that 2 technics are fine, but too expensiv. i prefer vestax, but that´s another story and was discussed often enough in this forum
i startet with gemini xl 500, they where quite ok, but i wouldn´t buy them again. i even think you can´t buy them anymore.
most important is: not to buy turntables with belt drive. if you pay attention to that you can´t do it wrong.

it's ok 2 buy yourself turntables instead of cd-players, 'cause hey, if u still want to get into digital stuff later, buy yourself final scratch.
