EDGE 102.1 CONTEST Re-cap + Interview :: DJ-DS1.COM news!!!!

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

I am officially the winner of the Nine Inch Nails ‘ONLY’ remix contest for Edge 102.1 in Toronto. This contest was put on by the radio station with the help of Trent Reznor and his people at Interscope and Nothing Records. My remix, judged as being the best, grants me two tickets to the Nov 10th show at the Air Canada Center to watch the show with radio personality Martin Streek. Afterwards I will be going back stage to meet the bands (Death from Above 1979/ Queens of the Stone Age/ Nine Inch Nails) and I will be handing over a copy of my remix to Trent Reznor, which he may possibly use for the ‘Only’ single which has still not been released.

UP COMING SOLO ALBUM

Also I’ve been hard at work in the studio to bring you some fresh new bits that will be used on my upcoming solo album (Get Your Gun). There will be two 100% original tunes on my site in early Novemeber (still unnamed as of yet) and a version of the Nine Inch Nails tune ‘BURN’ (off the Natural Born killers soundtrack).
All three of these tunes will be a full showcase of what I can do in the studio. That means that ALL Guitars, piano, drums, bass, vocals and programming will be done exclusively by me (The album will feature some cameos but the first set of tunes will be entirely myself)


DRUM AND BASS

I’ve been busy in the studio preparing some drum’n’bass, most of which has already found a home on some fresh releases coming out. Though I cant speak too much about what is to come, I will say that there will be releases being distributed through itunes, and possibly some vinyl releases as well. Expect the full release of between 2-5 of the tunes I’m currently sitting on.


NOTABLE UP COMING SHOWS

Due to my hectic schedules I haven’t been playing actually events as much recently. The good news is that I’m getting a ton of work done and that I have a couple great shows lined up. Firstly, the Calyx Jam brought to you by the Force Crew and Impure Productions on November 12th is going be a fun one. If you don’t know about Calyx then this is the PERFECT opportunity to witness what he brings to the table. I believe this party will be held at Madbar in downtown Toronto, be sure to check for full details

Also another notable show is the Official CD Release of MC Vivid’s next CD entitled ‘The beat drops here’ which will feature a couple of my own tunes as well with some of Toronto’s finest MC talent to be3 heard overtop. This all happens on November 25th at Madbar and SHOULD NOT BE MISSED! Be sure to check for full details

I have one hot new Ragga jungle bit in the works and should see the light of day very soon. This track features the incredible talents of the dancehall MC ‘Renegade’ and should be posted fairly soon So watch out!


DS-1 LEAVES THE ROCK BAND

For those that don’t know already, I officially left my former rock/reggae band, Suburban Sunrise. Due to some fighting and general disagreements, Ive deceided to give my own projects more focus.
