Went to a club last night to see a live instrumental performace. Instead, we paid to see some BULLSHIT. Future Prophecies is claiming that all the big names in the UK do this... by 'do this' I mean play prerecorded mixes, and act like they're mixing when they're just pressing two play buttons for an hour.

"1: they didnt play live, it was just a dj set...that i could deal with.

2: both of them showed up, only one got behind the decks, the other dude with the dreadlocks just stood there, waste of a flight right there.

3: not only did they not play live, the one that was behind the decks played a series of PRERECORDED mixes on cd that were about 7-12 minutes long each, with 4-6 tracks that were already mixed so that he didnt have to mix himself.

4: not only did he not mix the tracks that were already mixed together, he acted like he was mixing them while the track was playing, i noticed that he kept cueing up one of the cd decks (you could tell it was paused because the play button was flashing, i couldnt belive it) while the other deck hadtrack after track, already mixed, coming out of it.

5: when he did switch cd's, he just threw the fader up on whichever channel he was bringing in, hot-cued the new prerecorded mix right as the other one was ending, and i mean had literally run out, and switched channels without really mixing.

6: he stopped about 55 minutes into the set, right after someone went on stage and called the guy out that was just standing there, dont know if that was a coincidence, or if he was really done. i thought i saw spock motion to him to keep going, but he shook his head, so spock started spinning again.

the prerecorded mixes were programmed very well, but he obviously wasnt mixing live, and put on an act. im not the only one that noticed.

the vibe was still pretty thick though. its amazing how educated so many people claim to be and didnt notice. i didnt even really try to notice till i heard all these sick mixes and he hadnt even changed channels yet, so i went upstairs just to see how many channels were lit up on the mixer...sure enough, one at a time while i heard a series of tracks that i knew very well." -titan

nicht nur big names machen das...

sollten sich allesamt eingestehn dass sie keine turntablists sind und ableton verwenden... wär ehrlicher

naja, wenns keine instrumente mitnehmen dürfen in die us, is halt a bisserl gschissen - obwohl sie sich angeblich überlegen, sich für dort welche zu kaufen. scratchen kann er ja, auflegen auch, der flötist is a ned so übel.

die einreise policies der us sind eh zum scheissen - laurent garnier hat unlängst gmeint, dass er dort nimmer performed, weil er seine telefonnummeraufzeichnungen lieber ned rausrücken würd etc.

Hey all,i just got of the phone with Tony from FP...Here´s the truth:
Tony & Richard puts ALOT of time into their liveshows..Easily2-3 weeks of 12 hours daily planning before they go out on the road.
now,they play around 55-60 tunes in 1 hour,relying heavily on final scratch & 2 computers to make it work..As for their dallas gig,tony had no choice but to burn 3-4 minute segments onto cd,as they where given none of the equipment listed in their raider..Not even final scratch!!To say that Tony just stood there for time without dooing anything is a massive lie,and i am quite honestly shocked to see what bs certain people have come out with in regards to someone who could easily battle ANY dj regardeless of genre...Future Prophecies are trying to do something different,to make a difference in the ever booring ,predictable world of dj-sets..LET THEM,and know your facts before you all go on the tantrum of all times,trying to break people´s careers instead of supporting them.

Selbst wenns so wäre...
Ich fänds ehrlich gesagt ned so schlimm...
Die leute gehn einfach dazu ab wenn jemand 5 tunes in 3 minuten dropped... wie er da smacht is ihnen egal...
Hab ich in letzter zeit leider auch immer öfter beobachtet...
Und... GANZ EHRLICH... das is mir persönlich 5 mal lieber wenn jemand prerecordet mixes spielt wie wenns einen Dj hinstellen der jeden 2ten mix versaut.

und teebee nicht papi , sondern kollega - ham halt anscheinend telefoniert....


hab jetzt fast den ganzen thread auf DOA durchgelesen (neeeeeeeeeein,mir ist nicht langweilig.....) und anscheinend hat versprochenes equipment von den promotern gefehlt....


aber ehrlich gesagt ist mir das ganze (ab jetzt) ziemlich wurst....
