Was is so schlimm dran?

Is halt a bissl zamgschnitten und reingemalt, aber was solls!

So ein Vid wie zu Voddoo People werden sie sich net für einen jeden Track leisten, von dem no ned amal sicher is ob er im Club gut ankommt, geschweige denn ein Dauerbrenner wird!

Da Rob Swire singt doch so schön!

Und der Wiedererkennungswert is net zu unterschätzen.

Ich bin ja der Meinung dass es solche Tracks geben muss, damit Otto Normal Verbraucher sanft auf die "gute Seite" der Musikindustrie gezogen werden kann.

Ich könnt mir gut vorstellen, dass ich ein paar House und Dance Kollegen mit Granite mal dazu bewegen könnt sich auch andere Scheiben anzuhören und offener auf die Richtung DnB zuzugehen.

Ich hab ja auch mit Voyager angfangen!

Nur weil viele Leute auf das Zeug abfahren und sie dadurch viel Geld verdienen is noch lang net Mainstream.

Über alles darf ma schimpfen aber auf Therapy lass i nix kommen

mir is das wurscht, ob was von pendumul oder hansi hinterseer is, hab mich nur gwundert, dass ned mit am gondry oder jones style einefahren, wenns scho auf major machen und wahrscheinlich mehr knödel für vids ham als vorher.

Meinst dass so viel Geld für Vid haben?

Nur weil der ganze Style, und MySpace auf Major is, muss noch lang net heißen dass die Jungs genug Kohle haben.

Sie werden schon ganz gut an Hold your Color verdient haben, aber für mich schaut dass eher nach krampfhafter Werbung aus um nicht in Vergessenheit zu geraten, was ihnen ja auch recht gut gelingt

dnb's "major players" have told me to stop posting here and getting caught up in shit that a small minority constantly dish out...since they don't bother with it or post either, we should be above it... and i'm inclined to agree. i've asked XO to remove our accounts, except for our manager jho's one (pendulumhq) so that he can keep anyone who still wants to know updated, although most of our fans now have probably never even heard of DOA.

to everyone in the scene i pissed off with that "stale pig shit" comment - you took it the wrong way (or i wrote it the wrong way). it was aimed at some people on DOA that claimed "we killed drum and bass" - and i was trying to say that ANY genre (not just dnb) that can be toppled by one artist alone...probably deserves to die. for example, even miles davis couldn't have toppled jazz.

do i personally think dnb is dead? fuck no. its sounding better than it has for the last 3 years, and i'm loving the resurgeance of the old-school sound used in an innovative way (like that new track by mistabishi).

my only real problem with dnb (which i also tried to point out with my other post but fucked it up)... is the insular thinking that sometimes pollutes every electronic scene. when people don't look outside their given genre / scene for musical inspiration, things tend to get boring and tired very quickly. the music goes in circles, repeating itself...the amount of fans never changes, new people aren't attracted to the scene to give it fresh input and shit gets stale very quickly. all the drum n bass i have really liked since i got into it sounded like it took inspiration from different places...

jazz'n'bass, trance'n'bass, the hardcore/gabba inspired kick sound from messiah, kemal & rob's detroit techno influences in general, the disco sound founded by sonic n silver / j majik, all the reggae / ragga / dub influences...that was when drum n bass inspired ME. they borrowed from other places and combined it to bring something totally new to the table - just like zeppelin did with blues and rock, albeit to a lesser audience.

what DON'T i want to hear? dnb inspired by dnb...techstep inspired by techstep...jumpup inspired by jumpup...edits inspired by edits...pendulum-clones, and so forth.

why? because to me, its uninspired, boring, and you soon find yourself locked into a genre that has limited potential and shelf life - even more so if people are too scared to branch out into new sounds because of what some fuckwits on internet forums like this might say. both of those are what i've spent my time trying to avoid and overcome, since about a year before the hold your colour album (incidentally, thats also what the album's title meant).

so yeah...hopefully i've cleared things up - i can't say i didn't mean to offend, because to be honest theres been certain times (including that one) that if i was locked in a room with some of the people on DOA that have talked shit about us constantly for the length of our career, i would beat them to fucking death out of sheer vented energy alone. i'll always love dnb, but fuck these internet commentators who will never amount to anything themselves...i'm not gonna waste any more of my life bothering to read what they have to say.

to those people who've hounded us on here: from the bottom of my heart - fuck you.

to the rest of the scene: all the love / respect in the world.

to all our fans / supporters (we must have some on here, since granite is the #1 selling download on DOA): see you in 2008...its gonna be a year to remember ...and by the way, if DOA is your main source of news / info on us, pendulum.com will finally be launched this week i think, and we'll keep you updated from there)

naja mainstream ist imo immer so ein schwammiger begriff, glaub auf dem board hier wird dieser ja eher negativ mit ausverkauf gleichgestellt.

gehypt wird die Therapy vielleicht, aber das wohl eher rein aufgrund von mundpropaganda, dem verdientem respekt gegenüber dem Partykonzept.
Mit dem trashigen flyerkonzept und den immer vorhandenen echt hartverdaulichen acts für 'ottonormalverbraucher' sind sie ihrem konzept immer treu geblieben.

soviel verdienen die promoter zb der therapy austria (static echo) ausserdem auch nicht am organisen soweit ich weis, da geht die mehrheit des geldes an die arena.
ich denke die machen das auch eher aus idealismus und liebe zur kunst, was sie ganz klar vom ausverkauf distanziert mmn
