 Obsessions 011: Isotone & Johnny Hooves

Debuting on oBSEssions with his first release for the year,
Isotone’s Trip is well worth the wait. Proof that simple can
be very effective when done well, this tune delivers a
groove so dubby it is hypnotic. Minimal enough for the long
mix yet full of flavour, Trip is a track bound to bend some
necks.
Solo for his second showing on the label, Hooves proves
that he can go it alone with Double or Nothing. Lead by a
lively lead melody, it drops into a funky stab fest that sees
several new elements added as time passes - enough to
satisfy even the shortest of attention spans. Light enough
for the ladies and not too limp for the lads, this catchy yet
uncontrived tune is balanced well and has broad appeal.
