Born and raised on the mean streets of Pöchlarn, DJ Mettrax, AKA Stif, started his musical journey when he was 4, when he stole a jungle mania tape from the Pöchlarn branch of Woolworths. It was at this moment that Stif knew he wanted to be part of 'The Scene'.
He first became interested in the electronic music scene in 1989. In 1999, aged 14, his Mum and Dad bought him his first set of turntables. At the age of 17, he was already being touted as Pöchlarn's answer to DJ Livelol. He did various warm up sets before the doors opened in clubs hosting major names such as DJ Livelol, Miss Represent, Clipz, and many more. In 2004, he achieved his big break when he won a competition to carry DJ Fresh's record bag to an exclusive rave, which DJ Mettrax described as the greatest night of his life. It was after this point when he started getting gigs at big events such as Heurigen and Frühschoppen.
After receiving several offers, DJ Mettrax joined Miliz 23 Recordings, who helped distribute his first internet release, 'Dschangl Saund Golt' in 2005. Though the single didn't sell as many as he probably would have liked, DJ Mettrax is a fighter and since 2008 has been locked in the studio perfecting his craft.
Suffice to say, the Drum and Bass scene should be expecting big things from DJ Mettrax in 2009.
