Double Helix & Amen Ra sind die Gründer von LHF, einem Kollektiv aus dem Norden Londons. Musikalisch sozialisiert in der UK Jungle-Hardcore Bewegung der 90er-Jahre, verbinden sie düstere 2-Step/Garage Sounds mit einer Art Cut-up-Dubstep, in dem sich Hardcore/Jungle, Sci-fi-Jazz, indische Percussion, Afrobeat und Bollywood-Kitsch zu sumpfigem, hoch-infektiösem London-Bass vermengen.

Trotz regelmäßiger Gastauftritte, u.a. bei Kode 9's legendärer Groovetech-Radioshow auf Rinse FM, bei Darkquan's Texture Recordings Nights in Sheffield oder erst kürzlich bei Mary Anne Hobb's Show auf BBC Radio One haben sich LHF - weitgehend abgeschlossen vom Dubstep-Hype der letzten Jahre - ihr eigenes, autarkes Sounduniversum geschaffen. Amen Ra stellt die einzelnen Mitglieder von LHF vor:

Nach ihrem Debut 2009 auf dem US-Label Lo Dubs, zeichnet das Grazer Duo El Rakkas fuer die vierte Release auf Dubsquare Records verantwortlich. Die Tracks verbinden trockene, bass-lastige Technosounds mit dem fuer 2-Step charakteristischem Shuffle. Auch ihre DJ-Sets bewegen sich an der Schnittstelle zwischen Dubstep/2-Step und Techno.

Mstep, früher Mitglied bei 550 Rondy oder The Private Lightning Six, hat ein DJ-Set zwischen bass-lastigen Breakbeat-Anthems und klassischem Detroit-Techno angekündigt. Dubsquare's Boris wird den Abend mit experimentellem Techno eröffnen, IZC (Dubsquare/Sub.FM) übernimmt das Ende des Abends mit angeswingtem Post-Dubstep.

» It's been a loooong time coming but Keysound finally drop a debut session from the clandestine LHF clan (no, not the Lighthouse Fam). Under the A&R of Martin "Blackdown" Clarke, Amen Ra, Double Helix and Low Density Matter have imagined a parallel dimension to post '05 dubstep, where the sampling principles and construction methods of artcore and triphop are given priority over mid-range wobbles and wonky synthlines. In Double Helix's 'Deep Life' we can hear the ghosts of Goldie, El-B and Ed Rush written into the knuckle-dusted snares and siren vox while LDM's 'Blue Steel' shuffles midnight jazz licks into a full-sunken subbass like Peshay for 2010. Over on the flip Amen-Ra and Double Helix shred RZA over warbling sub-continental melody and Shackleton-esque percussion before the two go again on 'Broken Glass' with dread subs and rugged percussion like a DMZ tune gone west. If their recent mixes are anything to go by, these guys are sitting on mountain of similar material that should be seeing the light of day on Keysound in future times. «
