HOSTAGE aka Adar Friedberg is a newcomer DJ and producer currently based in New York City, USA. He spent his high school years playing bass and drums for all sorts of silly bands. His young adult life was spent playing bass for noise and shoegazing bands, but after getting tired of fighting with people in rehearsal rooms - he moved on to working with a computer. Solo. During the 90s he got hooked on the darker sound of Dom, Grooverider and Source Direct, and started producing dark and heavy drum and bass himself. Music being such a large part of his life, studying audio engineering and working in the field - as his day job, is only natural. His first official presence was in April 2009 when he had his first release on Mindsaw Recordings. After it dropped like a bomb by showing the world his completely new and unique style, HOSTAGE got into our focus.
A second EP on Mindsaw was following soon, but unfortunately this was the last EP on Mindsaw Digital ever.
Now we are very proud and especially honoured to present you DarkBox’s sixth release by HOSTAGE: UNWANTED CHILD EP including 4 masterpieces of a disturbed and at the same time brilliant mind.
The EP is full of aggressive and well combined snare/ kick combinations with catchy/ scary atmospheres and basses which make you sh** your pants!
UNWANTED CHILD, first tune of the EP, and also responsible for its name, drops with a insane break that just keeps rolling and rolling no matter what comes in its way!
The second tune, DIE SLOWLY, deserves its name because those bass-kicks got no mercy at all. DEADLY REACTION, the third tune, starts quite simple but with every break it grows and refines itself into an unstoppable, force grabbing banger. Fourth and last tune of the EP, PERSONAL EXPOSURE, has dark atmospheres that will trap you into a dungeon with no way out... Just wait until it drops to be set free!
We are really proud that HOSTAGE and his UNWANTED CHILD EP are bringing back some quality into the digital world of D’n’B.

Itzokor aka Davide Virdis, began his music career in late '90s playing and producing hardtekno, then starts studying as sound engineer, givin birth to his first Drum'n'Bass tunes in 2003 and released, under the nickname of Synth, his first tunes on labels such as Future Sickness and Subculture. His changing into Itzokor (2009), counts several releases on many labels and now leaving his sign here on DarkBox..
After his appearance on the mixed cd “Italian Bassline 4” (2009 DBox Records) with the track Poltergeist, the sardinian producer is back with two new fresh bangers to thrill your ears with!
3.33am, as he told us, is a particular time when all sort of strange things happen, and you can definitely tell so by listening to this very original track with a unique and unconventional rhythm. Cancer VIP, as the original mix grows inside the listener from the first beat, banging straight all the way through like a pounding hammer.
You’ll be definitely be well impressed by this release by Itzokor. Two insane mechanical tracks for the hard beat lovers.

speziell der HOSTAGE release hat es mir echt angetan!! extrem digge quality was der typ so raushaut!! für mich immernoch unverständlich, warum der immernoch nicht bei nem "großen" label gesigned wurde.. anyway - umso besser für mich
