Carter - Mind Mosaic / She's Gone (DIGIBLUS028)

Digital Blus has dedicated 2014 to add a plethora of new artists – including Austria's own Carter. As a long time fan of all styles of drum and bass, Carter has secured great connections with the likes of the legendary Bryan Gee, Paul SG, Roy Green & Protone, Dave Owen, Kasper, and Hybrid Minds. First making his imprint in 2013, the Austrian was signed to Jazzsticks Recordings. 2014 will see a steady schedule of releases by this man on the likes of Blu Saphir, Influenza Media, Fokuz, Liquid V, and Soul Deep.

A. MIND MOSAIK:

Get your antennae set. The melody is about to take hold! Oh yes! A lovely piano lullaby! And we drop! Oscillators dedicate to the background while sweeping melodies take up the first drop. A brief interlude stops the music, inserting vocals before the pianos and drums go back to play. Those in the know about the Blu Saphir vibes will enjoy this one!

B. SHE'S GONE:

She's Gone is another piano roller like the previous, but a bit more upbeat. Drums attack from the first downbeat. While the vocals suggest a morose atmosphere, this very danceable number is well-crafted. Saxophone melodies pick up following the vocal drop. The break sees a brief sax solo with piano accompanied accents, leading to the second drop. Then we go through the great motions for a second time!
