New single from Vince Grain on AutomAte Deep!

Teutonic tunesmith Vince Grain made his AutomAte debut on the Depth of Vision Vol.1 EP with creepy alien-stepper Roswell Eyewitness. Herr Grain did not need a second chance to make his mark, becoming an instant AutomAte favourite. Rising quickly through the ranks, he follows up here with a solo single on the Deep imprint.

Nyctophilia – a preference for the night or darkness; an ironic title for a tune so lush and light on its feet. Sure, the bass is as dense as the Bavarian forest, with an über-stereo grind that circles relentlessly like our own personal mini-Hindenburg but it’s the beautiful licks of the Japanese Koto that take centre-stage here. Absolutely sublime.

The yin to Nycto’s yang, Drones Over Berlin is trademark Vince Grain. Mixed equal parts astute cynicism and paranoid delusion, wave after wave of highly agitated atmospherics seep out from between the tight, minimal vibes, trim break layers and claustrophobic beats & bass.
