zum glück nicht ganz. das original von kingo of the bongo ist mit abstand das schlechteste lied von mano negra. als manu chao die neue, coolere version davon gemacht hat, hat er z.b. vernünftigerweise folgende zeilen weggelassen:

"But I don't like no disco
& I don't like the house
'cause I'm born to rock
I'm born to pogo"



das ganze king of the bongo album war ein eher peinlicher versuch ein album für den nordamerikanischen markt zu machen, und obwohl es nicht komplett schlecht war, es war auch für die bandmitglieder eher enttäuschend und sie haben sowas nie wieder versucht.

bessere beispiele vom mano negra sound sind king kong five, mala vida, sidi h'bibi, señor matanza usw. in der form sind sie definitiv eine der besten bands aller zeiten.

mhm, ich mag die kurzen stücke mit quetschn und billigen orgel/keyboard sounds und die dubbigen, und die folkigen

die rap einlagen sind glaub ich eher humoristisch zu betrachten

ich glaube sie sind gar nicht als rap zu betrachten.

es ist für die meisten leute schwer ihre musik zu verstehen, weil die texte schon relativ wichtig sind, und sie singen in 10 sprachen oder so. die texte von manu chao verweisen ständig auf seine frühere songs, und wenn man sie nicht kennt, dann ergeben die neuen texte auch wenig sinn. die meisten ihrer lieder sind eigentlich politisch (auch king kong five, z.b.).

noche de acción ist lustig, aber der text ist mir zu blöd, um ganz ehrlich zu sein.

jein, king kong five würd ich unter die hm..funk-rock-rap songs einordnen wie sie ende 80er anfang 90er in waren und die zwar an sich echt gut sein können, aber für mich aus heutiger sicht durch irgendwie, naja...altbacken klingen
