dubstep? no, no don't use such terms or da style police are gonna declare you da master of the schubladendenkens though they could refrain from doing so, out of respect or something
on a more serious note, as far as "rubba" is concerned i don't really see the dubstep connection. that tune is a blatant "eskimo" rip-off (with a few fresh samples), which would put it in the widely despised grime garage category. a heavy tune still. nice to see forward guys embracing that sound too. oris jay has a grime garage tune in the pipeline and that one is better than all the breakstep crap he released over past 6 months.
some heavy garage tracks coming out this summer, and that on all fronts.

I've locked myself away and tried. And the thing about garage is: the more you look at it like some tech-boy producer, the less you get it."

The begriff Grimey is not new to me but I dont really understand it???Grimey means dirty and well it doesnt really feel dirty to me
Maybe you could help out an old man and tell me what grimey actually means???
To further my education and all that.....
And Tempa??Is this also grimey??Or is that dubby??
maybe we should just call it breakbeat and leave it at that

some of grime garage tracks have no beats at all. it's a form of rap music, only that most tracks are released without vocals, so that mcs can ride them live. i am also not responsible for the crappy name of the genre, the people making that kind of music call it that (they also call it sublow and whole host of other names ).
but yeah, you can approach all that stuff from that point of view and call it just breaks, mix it with other breakbeat tracks at that tempo and everything. that works well too, they have a crossover potential and i even heard some techno djs mix them in their techno sets. i doubt anyone in vienna would want to listen to a grime set anyway, it's too weird and without mcs also perfectly pointless. in london kids are going mad for it, though.
i don't approach that stuff as a breakbeat dj or a breakbeat fan (i don't like breaks at that tempo, with a few exceptions), so i don't see it the way you and most people here do. for me personally that track would never work in a breaks or a techno set because i wouldn't be feeling the tracks surrounding it in the mix

Hmmm, the Tempa stuff works in Tech house or with other Breakbeat forms.....Booties/Nuschool/electro....and it goes down quite nicely too..I also like to mix it up with this Burial Mix Stuff cos it fits in perfectly at around 133 bpm and makes the peeps go
Mentas Rubba....well I think I have to put it on the Flex Sound system and see what happens....maybe gatecrash Gormet Gold or whatever the schass is called and get dirty
Tanx for the Info....
