also rekursiv den files im pptp ordner einen neuen modus zu verpassen funktioniert leider auch ned.
(ist das außerdem nicht ein bisi kontraproduktiv dort alle files auf 766(?) zu setzen??)

von sudo hab ich zwar schon gehört, aber keinen plan wie ich das verwende. manpage dazu is ja auch ned grad dürftig...

'visudo' zum editieren der etc/sudoers führt bei mir außerdem seltsamerweise zu einem
'bash: visudo: command not found' ...

wärs nicht die komfortabelste lösung eine neue gruppe anzulegen, und der irgendwie die entsprechenden recht zu verpassen (damit ich das ganze im fall eines neuen users nicht wieder neu machen muß)...

inode-email-support hat auf die anfrage nur kurz und bündig mit einem:
"verwenden sie den chmod befehl"..
geantwortet...

nächstes problem->

ich kann zwar zum beispiel mit xmms mp3s hören, wenn ich aber jetzt zum beispiel neben der wiedergabe des mp3s ein video betrachten will, hör ich nur den output von xmms und nicht den output von dem 2.programm.
d.h. jedes programm für sich gibt den sound aus, sobald ich aber 2 programm parallel laufen habe, höre ich nur das 1. programm, das ich gestartet habe. hab dann im terminal gelesen, dass die soundkarte in use ist. das kanns aber nicht sein, oder?
jetzt hör ich nicht einmal die ICQ message während ich mp3s höre!!

T.S: Ich kanns mir zwar nicht vorstellen, dass das ohne root-Rechte funktionieren soll, aber probier halt mal: chmod 777 /var/run/pptp/* und dann nochmal starten. Sudo hab ich ähm selbst noch nie konfiguriert/verwendet.

pi.formance: Eventuell unterstützt deine Karte (bzw der Treiber) kein Hardware Mixing oder irgendwas blockiert hier nur. Verwendest du artsd (Der Kde-Sound-Dämon)? Wenn ja, versuchs mal abdrehen.
Esd ist recht gut wenn kein Hardware-Mixing möglich ist sofern die Programme ausgabe über selbigen unterstützen (z.B. xmms über esd-ausgabe-plugin).

is das unbedenklich den ganzen ordner pptp auf 777 zu setzen?

ich habs mit den betreffenden files eh schon mal einzeln probiert; leider haut das ned hin. ich befürchte auch, daß es da strikte root einschränkungen im skript gibt.


zur lösung mittels eines boot scripts... wie könnte man das denn am besten machen?

deine RC skripte sind ja süß, aber du brauchst in diesem ordner ein _neues_
also ein kurzes kopieren und anpassen. dann wo einsortieren, wo die anderen auch gestartet werden. gibt da einen befehl den ich nicht kenn um das zu checken, manuell aber auch kein problem. es muss wo einen rc.5 ordner geben, der ist für das runlevel 5 zuständig. da steht drinnen was gestartet und was gestoppt werden soll. (start = S und stopp = kill = K) und ein buchstabe und die zahl gibt die reihenfolge an.

das mit dem audio-zeug ist kein problem, sondern ein feature. eine soundcard kann halt nicht mit mehreren datenströmen umgehen (bessere können das)
daher: musst du das audio signal von allen programmen zuerst in einem virtuellen mixer (ja, sowas gibts, auch im windows nur unsichtbar) zusammenmischen und der entstandene mix wird dann weitergeschickt.
im kde gibts da was eigenes, das musst in der confi aktivieren. und im xmms gibts ein eigenes modul (preferences>output) das dann über das abspielt.
wennst alsa im kernel hast, kannst auch von dort aus eine OSS emulation laufen lassen und die /dev/sound1 oder /dev/dsp[01] geräte verwenden. je nach dem wie sie heißen. OSS mixt das dann und alsa, welches OSS emuliert, spielts dann ab. auf die art kommst auch sicher mitm icq zurecht. und das ding vom kde soll am besten auch über OSS wiedergeben.

also für die genannten Anwendungen ist Linux _sehr_ zu empfehlen. ich verwende seit gut 5 Jahren nur noch Linux.

für den Einstieg ist SuSE wirklich sehr ans Herz zu legen obwohl sie in den letzten stark nachgelassen haben aber für jeden Einsteiger sicher zu empfehlen.

meine Distri der Wahl ist Gentoo, aber das ist wohl nix für einen Einsteiger

ansonsten mit einer LiveCD mal probieren, gibts auch von SuSE aber die sicher bekannteste ist Knoppix.
als alles andere als LiveSystem würd ich Knoppix aber nicht verwenden, da doch besser eine reine Debian oder Ubuntu, ein sehr feines Projekt (debianbasierend) !

viel Spass aber nimm in Kauf am Anfang vieeel zu lesen wenn du weiterkommen willst

ja das war mir eh klar. das problem scheint zu sein, daß bei jedem einwahlvorgang(bzw. hangup) die dateien
/opt/inode-dsl/etc/ppp/pap-secrets bzw. /opt/inode-dsl/etc/ppp/chap-secrets

neu angelegt werden. und zwar mit -rw------- 1 root root

ich wollt mit lsof | grep dialin herausfinden, was denn das dialin so alles macht..

das command lsof kennt die bash aber nicht manpage dazu gibts aber sehr wohl...
