und nur weil es mir wieder fad ist - für langsamdenkende hörer der schnellen musik versuche ich das so zu erklären: wenn ich sage "das ist ein bassy mc garage tune mit 2step beats", dann versuche ich den tune nicht zu kategorisieren, sondern zu beschreiben (ich kann auch sagen, "das ist ein mellow drum'n'bass roller mit vocals", was auch keine kategorie ist, sondern eine beschreibung). dann kann man sich nämlich darunter was vorstellen.

ihr, nicht ich, seht "2step" und ähnliches als kategorien, für mich sind das nur worte, mit denen ich die einzelne elemente der garage musik beschreiben kann. und breaks sehe ich als eigenständige musikrichtung, genauso wie die meisten garage und breaks headz, plattengeschäfte und musikzeitschriften (incl. knowledge) das tun. natürlich können die leute beide musikrichtungen auflegen, nur würde man damit dort, wo diese szenen vorhanden sind, nur sehr schwer durchkommen. in wien ist das natürlich egal, aber mir haben die leute schon mal bei einer party gesagt, sie wollen nicht, dass ich 4x4 auflege und dass als ich mitten in meinem set war (sie wollten breaks haben). das kann ich verstehen, auch wenn ich persönlich da deutlich offener bin.

aber da style police kann anscheinend immer besser wissen, was ich sagen wollte, was ja nichts neues ist, haben wir bereits bei der diskussion übers flex gehabt. kein wunder, dass chit-chat die einzige form der unterhaltung auf diesem board ist. was vernünftiges kann man nur dann sagen, wenn die leute einem zuhören und verstehen wollen, was man sagen will. wenn man das verdreht, dann ist das nur noch lächerlich.

wie slack hippy (sam) im goa thread im chit chat gut beschrieben hat, gibts goa als musikrichtung überhaupt nicht! goa war mal house und mittlerweile is goa der hippe namen für trance! trance is offensichtlich schon zu tiaf geworden, jetzt gehen die leut halt auf "goa" parties, wos genauso trance spielt wie in der nachtschicht, fühlen sich aber besser dabei - was ja auch ok is...

...wobei ich aber sagen muss die einteilung in breaks (breakbeats) und garage (4/4) kann ich nachvollziehen und wenn du all die anderen namen als trackbeschreibungen benutzt, versteh ich das auch, oft kommts aber so rüber, als wenn du alles in tausend schubladen stecken würdest...

don't jump to conclusions, folks

anyway, mit goa und so zeugs kenne ich mich eh nicht aus. aber was trennung zwischen garage und breaks betrifft, es ist nicht so, dass ich nur 4/4 garage als garage hören will, ganz im gegenteil, 2step beats (esp. 98/99 stylee) finde ich immer noch faszinierend, und soca beats sind auch cool, und es wird immer eine brücke zwischen breaks und garage szene geben, weil beide ungefähr gleich schnell sind. aber kern der garage szene wird immer anders sein als kern der breaks szene (sonically and socially). vor 2-3 jahren gab es viele tracks, die man in beiden szenen spielen konnte, weil track wie "i don't smoke" und "138 trek" sehr garagey waren, aber mit der zeit hat sich das drastisch geändert und djs wie dj deekline (der mehr oder weniger alleine diesen "breakstep" crossover sound definiert hat) wird nicht mehr für garage events gebucht. das merkt man an seinen neuen sachen, sie sind ganz einfach für die breaks szene gemacht. nur haben das einige leute in wien nicht mitbekommen.

aber siren sounds (ray keith remix) ist noch schlimmer imo

ich finde die meisten drumsound and bassline smith sachen langweilig, bis auf ein paar ausnahmen wie friday oder fallin.
